Portillo is unique because there is no town and there is only one hotel: the grand Hotel Portillo, which has 123 rooms. In this respect, the Portillo skiing and resort experience is unlike that of other commercial ski resorts.
Portillo rooms are cozy and warm, and feature simple decoration. We offer a variety of rooms, including doubles, family apartments and suites, with a view of the valley or the lake. While the mountain view from the valley side is beautiful, the lake view is especially spectacular and is worth the slightly higher price. Portillo's rooms are simply decorated and comfortable.

The Portillo ski and resort experience is unlike that of any other commercial ski resort. We offer our Grand Hotel Portillo, with a variety of room options, as well as the Octagon Lodge and Inca Lodges. There is no neighboring town, meaning Portillo is totally self-contained, much like a cruise ship nestled in the magnificent Andean peaks. But Portillo is not just for skiing or snowboarding, socializing and relaxing, it is also for renovating and restoring the body and mind in a natural environment that is nothing less than spectacular. Portillo operates on a weeklong, Saturday to Saturday basis. Our guests arrive from like a freshman class, but quickly make friends and contacts, sometimes even on the drive up from the airport. By the end of the week, families have grown closer, romances have bloomed and guests have made lifelong friends, having lived, skied and laughed together during their wonderful week in Portillo.
Our guests come from near and far, they speak several languages and they represent the full spectrum of skiing and snowboarding abilities: from beginner-beginner to #1 world champions. They come to Portillo for many different reasons . . . its beauty . . . its ski terrain . . . the warm hospitality . . . the camaderie . . . the fun. Over the past 50 years, Portillo has gained a reputation as an excellent destination for skiers and boarders.
With our first-rate snow, we can cater to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. 80% of the terrain is carefully groomed on a daily basis, and the most difficult terrain is natural snow pack. Expert skiers have access to vast and challenging areas, steep terrain and exhilarating experiences.
There are plenty of choices at Portillo and all are easy to access and crowd free. Portillo also allows beginners and intermediate to excel at their own pace on groomed runs and open bowls.
